Keeping our eyes on the ball
Founded in 1932, the Shirley Club has been a pillar for snooker players all over Birmingham.
Shirley Club is located in the heart of Shirley, adjacent to the popular Sears Retail Park. As well as being a home for snooker tables, the venue can also be hired for functions and special occasions.
Not your average job
We were commissioned to replace the carpets in the main snooker hall which sounds pretty straight forward. However, this was far from the average job. The hall is populated with solid led snooker tables that weigh around 1250kg each. With them being permanently fixed, clearing the space to carry out the installation simply wasn’t an option.
Bespoke, bright and perfectly aligned
In addition to the obstacles the space presented, the we laid the carpeting for the bar, which leads into the main hall, many years prior. The client needed something that complimented the existing carpet, yet still gave a vibrant feel.
A bespoke bright red Axminister carpet was selected. It also features a replica design of the carpet in the bar area. Although it was a match made in heaven, it was crucial that the carpet in both spaces aligned perfectly for a unified finish.
Experienced team
We knew Shirley Club required the skills of our most experienced fitters. Our installation director Keith headed up the job, assisted by the wider team. After successfully transporting the carpet onto the premises, which weighed over 170kg, the team were then tasked with manoeuvring around the snooker tables. But the results speak for themselves. The team executed the fit to the usual outstanding standard, despite the technicalities they were faced with.
