Scores & Broken Fingers
The cricket season has well and truly begun, and we want to update you on how our boys at Warwickshire are getting on. The 1st XI have had a mixed start to their title defence, with Dom, Henry and Dan having featured so far. Coming off the back to a defeat to Somerset, they faced Lancashire hoping to bounce back. Unfortunately, Dan has suffered a broken finger, leaving him out for the next 6 weeks after a promising start to the season which saw him score 43 in the opener against Surrey.
Out of our boys, Dom was the only one selected making a massive impact in the game. He managed to hit an unbeaten 142 in the first innings to help Warwickshire set an opening 315. Lancashire came back boasting a lead of 46 coming into the second innings. Dom added to his impressive opening score with a further 41 before snicking off from a Matt Parkinson delivery. The game ended with Warwickshire on 184-6 meaning their second draw of the season.
Ethan & Jacob
Ethan and Jacob have yet to feature for the 1st XI, however they have both come off the back of an impressive display against Gloucestershire in the Second XI Championship. The first innings saw Ethan finish on 29 and Jacob getting his first 100 of the season. There was more to come in the second innings, Ethan scoring 112 from just 119 balls, and Jacob again displaying his batting skills with 38 not out. Both the boys contributed from the other end as well with 2 wickets a piece over the game helping the team win by 6 wickets.
YOU BEARS!
Henry featured alongside Ethan and Jacob in their recent friendly against the South Asian Cricket academy, with all 3 boys contributing their fair share throughout. From the batter’s end, they all impressed, Henry hitting 36, Ethan 38, and Jacob 49. The bowling figures were just as good as Henry managed 6 wickets over the two innings and Ethan added 3 more to his tally as they managed to win by an innings and 98 runs.
All 5 boys have had superb starts to the season so far with great individual displays from all of them at both ends of the wicket. We’ll continue to post the progress from all of them as they look to have yet another successful season.
